Import the daily MYOB AE files

MYOB AE firmsFor: AdminAccess: Admin

Upload, check the import log and the count of differences; re-importing the same file changes nothing.

  1. In MYOB AE, export the reports you need, as CSV files or Excel workbooks:

    • the client list
    • unbilled WIP
    • bills
    • write-offs
    • aged debtors
  2. In BMS, go to Settings > MYOB AE and press Import Files.

  3. Choose the files; you can pick several at once.

  4. Enter the date they were Exported from MYOB AE on, and press Import.

BMS recognises each table by its columns, not its file name. A report title above the header row is fine.

  • Sections replace the snapshot. Each section you upload replaces that part of the snapshot whole. Sections you leave out are kept from the import before, and the log says which.
  • Bad uploads are refused whole. If two files hold the same section, or nothing can be recognised, the whole upload is refused and the snapshot is left alone.
  • Importing the same files twice changes nothing, and the log says so.

Every upload is kept in the log, whether it was imported or refused. Open one to see, for each section:

  • the rows read, Added, Changed, Removed, Unchanged and Rejected, with the reason for each rejected row
  • the File total, the report’s own total and the Imported total, so you can see that the money agrees

Reconciliation counts:

  • the MYOB AE clients, and how many were Matched to a contact by Client ID
  • clients not in BMS
  • Rows charged to a client MYOB AE does not list

Still need help?

Ask your firm's BMS admin first: they can see your access level and your firm's settings. Clients of a firm should contact their accountant.
